Apamea furva

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) 2329 / 73.165

A rare and local species.

A moth of mainly moorland.

Overwinters as a larva and adults come to light and to sugar.

Note often confused with the obscura form of the Dusky Brocade, hence its common name. It has a scale tooth at the base of the trailing edge of the wing which is lacking in Dusky Brocade. Also, the limited habitat of this species ought to discount it from other areas.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.

Recorded in 19 (14%) of 140 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1896.
Last Recorded in 2021.
