Fairly common resident.

Crataegus spp. with larva feeding in a shoot from August to October, then pupating in situ. In the winter and spring tenanted twigs can be recognised by the presence of a narrow slot, prepared by the larva for the moth's emergence, usually in the undersurface at the base of the previous years growth.
