A common resident in the south and is spreading rapidly northwards, reaching Staffordshire in 2007, with over 170 subsequent records by 2022.
Prefers fens, marshes, riverbanks but also gardens and woodland.
Overwinters as a larva. Adults fly during the day but also come to light later. Recorded in 99 (71%) of 140 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1914. Last Recorded in 2022. (Data up to end 2022) |
