A common resident in the south, less so in the north.

Mainly a species of old broadleaved woodland but now can be found well away from that.

Overwinters as a pupa while adults come to light from dusk onwards.

Note Similar to buff forms of Dingy and Buff Footmen. Buff is larger while the leading edge of Dingy is more evenly curved. Orange is a more orange-yellow colour too.
