Fairly Common resident.
Larvae feed in a case on woollen fabrics, fur, and feathers indoors and occasionally in birds' nests outdoors.
Flies June to October.
Formerly a common pest indoors but now markedly declined in abundance, but still fairly widespread in houses and barns.
