A rare and local resident.

A species of damp woodland, riverbanks and marshes.

Overwinters as an egg while adults come to light and sugar.

Note resembles the commoner Olive but in that species the forewing is at the most only slightly hooked and the subterminal line is curved upwards, away from the wing tip.
