A rare and declining resident.
A species of gardens and allotments. It is more a lowland moth than the Northern Spinach.
Overwinters as an egg while adults fly at dusk and are attracted to light.
Note Similar to Northern Spinach but it has a distinctive resting position, similar to that of Barred Straw. Recorded in 70 (50%) of 140 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1899. Last Recorded in 2022. (Data up to end 2022) |
